2018 one year older, again, can we stop ageing? Yes according to nobel price winner Elizabeth Blackburn
What makes our bodies age ... our skin wrinkle, our hair turn white, our immune systems weaken? Biologist Elizabeth Blackburn shares a Nobel Prize for her work finding out the answer, with the discovery of telomerase: an enzyme that replenishes the caps at the end of chromosomes, which break down when cells divide.
That cap end is called telemeros and with every divide of our cells they become shorter and if they are to short a cell will stop replicating and that means death.
And we can do a lot to stop that process, partly.
